Our Father among the Saints John the Merciful - Τοῦ ἐν Ἁγίοις Πατρός ἡμῶν Ἰωάννου τοῦ Ἐλεήμονος

Note that if this day falls on a Sunday, the hymns to St. Nilus are only read at Apodeipnon (Απόδειπνον) and not chanted during the other services.  Only those hymns of St. John are chanted from the Menaion in conjunction with the resurrectional hymns according to the TME on p. 95. However this is not supported by Fr. Papagiannis in his Σύστημα Τυπικού (p. 210 paragraph 429), he explains his reasoning in footnote 129 p. 94. In defending his purposeful divergence from the TME he references the Typikon of Regas (Τυπικόν του Γεωργίου Ρήγα - ΤΡ) explaining that it is in his opinion the TME that does not follow the tradition (τυπικήν παράδοσιν) in this instance. Real juicy stuff for us typikologists!!!

  1. I'm interested in what you think of Fr. Papagiannis' decision to reform the Typikon of the Great Church and return to an older tradition found in the ancient typika? Let me know here in the comments section. Thanks.
